So you want to be an entrepreneur?  You want to sell your own products for big bucks and you think you can get rich easily doing it on the internet.  What are you going to sell?  Some people believe its as easy as getting a web domain or starting your own blog.  Sorry to tell you….it’s not.  With all of the hype available on home based businesses and literally hundreds if not thousands of online gurus promising to show you the way to money making enlightenment, this question becomes understandably hard to answer.  One area that is starting to be touched on but fully allows people to still compete in otherwise low competitive markets is niche marketing.  What’s niche marketing?  Glad you asked.  A niche is a specialty area for which a person is best fitted.  Think of anything in the world that you are extremely good at and that other people are interested in being good at.  That’s a niche.  If you can expound on this idea and sell products or services relative to this idea you can be pretty darn successful.  The beauty of this is that not everyone else is vying for that specialty area because….then its no longer a niche.  Here’s an example:  People were clothing but clothing is not a niche because everyone wears them.  Tight leather pants, however, is a type of clothing that a select group of people are interested in wearing.  Bikers, Rock and roll performers or S/M folks, perhaps are interested in this stuff.  Anything can be a niche. 

Compression style fitness wear and yoga apparel was the niche that I  decided to pursue since  I am greatly interested in health and fitness.  You also need inspiration, determination and it helps if you have some instructions. Most of us have always wanted to start our own business, but never thought we had what it took.  That lingering doubt simply stems from fear.  You have to learn how to overcome this fear and although its easier said than done.  It still, nonetheless, can be done.  Everything you do the first time is difficult.  Once you do it a few times it becomes easier and your fear subsides, but is usually replaced with something else.  Generally that feeling is either boredom or confidence.  If its boredom, that’s probably because you’re not really interested in it.  You have no passion for what you’re doing.  That’s the beauty of getting involved in a niche.  Generally, you have a natural passion for what you’re involved in.  That first step should help to quell any initial fears about getting started.   You also need some sort of motivation.  What better motivation today than what’s going on with our economy? Enter the great recession of 2009. 

                A lot of us have felt the shockwaves of this great economic crisis even if we weren’t a direct casualty of it.  Many of us have lost jobs or know someone that has.  Our standards of living have been greatly compromised.  Now, more than ever its important to create stability when and where we can.  No one wants to be susceptible to the whims of someone else for career security. With faith, research and a little bit of money you can get involved with programs that will teach you all about niche marketing. You can learn how to appropriately start an online business and learn new skills that will benefit you for years to come.  You can learn about key word optimization and how to get free traffic to your site.  You’ll learn how to rank high up in the search engines so that when people enter in certain key words your name will appear at the top.  You’ll also learn what keywords are commercially viable so you know what terms you can effectively use to promote your site.  You can also discover some alternative markets that may or may not be related to your initial area of interest that you may not have even realized you might be interested in.  F or example, when I started learning about this I thought I would get involved by selling shoulder braces because I've suffered shoulder instability due to competing in jiu-jitsu sports. I know of many people who have suffered shoulder instabilities and were now limited in their ability to continue their sport. I thought this would be a niche that I could pursue using these SEO keyword techniques. It turns out, that I found something I was much more interested in, but it wasn’t dead off course. I was able to discover a few other keywords that were commercially viable and still be in the realm of health and fitness. 

                Compression style fitness wear is primarily dominated by a few well known brand names but it is still a fairly new niche. A lot of people still don’t know what compression wear is.  Its got a highly target purpose. You don't really find too many people in your day to day activities who are not working out wearing some skin tight, blaringly bright colored outfits. No, t-shirts are one thing, but compression style athletic shirts are an entirely new concept for the average athlete. Were used to loose fitting t-shirts, head bands, and running shorts with slits cut up the side (I guess so that your unmentionables can breathe and peer out when you sit down to rest). The traditional notion is that the body needs to breathe. While this may be true, it has been determined that compression clothing can actually better help the body regulate thermal temperature and thereby enhance your exercising effort. 

                I digress. The point of this article is not that compression wear is the best thing in the world since slice bread, but more so that you can get involved in business. All you need is a passion to be more than you are today and the commitment to follow through. If you’re really serious about making money and are willing to invest some time and money you can learn these strategies and implement them.  If you follow the program as laid out, you essentially have a business in a box.
